Research Notes
The authentication sheet supplied with the work identifies Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841-1919) and describes the work as an original etching. It provides biographical context on Renoir's role in Impressionism and states that La Société de Vérification de la Nouvelle Gravure Internationale of New York and Paris certifies and warrants the work as an original etching by Pierre August Renoir. The sheet further states that the Société was created by The Collector's Guild, Ltd. to set and uphold standards for original graphic art. For museum cataloging, this historical certificate language is recorded as documentation supplied with the work; the BlazerQuest appraisal remains careful not to represent the impression as a verified lifetime hand-signed Renoir impression.
