Research Notes
The N. Isen certificate identifies the artist as Pierre-Auguste Renoir and the work as "Feuille d'Etude (Pl. 5)" from the portfolio Aquarelles et Dessins. It records the year as 1956; medium as offset lithograph on paper; edition as number 2 from a rare limited edition of 500; printer as Daniel Jacomet, Paris; condition as Excellent; and signature as signed in the plate, lower left. The certificate is headed N. Isen, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Purveyors of Fine Art, and states that the work is genuine as described therein. These details support classification as a 1956 posthumous, plate-signed offset lithograph rather than a hand-signed lifetime Renoir print. Recorded sheet size is approximately 13.25 x 10.35 inches; framed size approximately 27.5 x 22.5 inches.
